5 Jul 2005 - Together We Can
'Together We Can' is the government's action plan to get citizens and public bodies working together to make life better, led by the Home Office Civil Renewal Unit.
Launched on 28 June 2005 the Together We Can plan sets out the government's commitment to empower citizens to work with public bodies to set and achieve common goals.
The plan helps the Home Office to join up initiatives across government. It enables them to share and review what they learn as the plan progresses, and provides a basis on which they can build partnerships outside government to take their policies forward.
12 government departments are taking part in the Together We Can plan and it covers a wide range of areas. The plan is divided into four areas:
* Citizens and Democracy
* Regeneration and Cohesion
* Safety and Justice
* Health and Sustainability
"The Together We Can action plan is an important benchmark in giving people control over their own communities." Rt Hon Charles Clarke MP, Home Secretary, and Hazel Blears MP, Minister of State.
